Multi-Award highlife legend Daniel Abrantie Amakye Dede escaped death after being involved in a fatal accident on New Year’s Day.
The leader of the world traveled (Apollo) High Kings Band was in the company of his manager and longtime friend, Isaac Yeboah. Mr. Yeboah unfortunately died in the accident.
The accident happened at the Bonso Junction in the Eastern region of Ghana which is fast gaining notoriety for fatal accidents.
Amakye Dede was billed to perform at Paradise, a ten-minute drive from the junction. Eye witnesses say the musician was changing in his car parked when the accident happened.
Reports say that it was while in the vehicle when a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus which had tried unsuccessfully to overtake other cars smashed into it. Mr. Isaac Yeboah, manager of Amakye Dede and the musician’s bodyguard were standing in front of the car chatting at the time of the accident.
Amakye Dede, who is arguably best live band performer in Ghana was said to be responding to treatment at an unknown hospital has been transferred to the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital in Accra. His bodyguard who is also in critical condition has also been transferred to the 37 Military Hospital also in Accra.
