President Nana Akufo-Addo has created an office at the presidency responsible for creating a database of exceptional Ghanaians abroad who have special skills to contribute to government’s development agenda.

This was revealed by presidential spokesperson Mustapha Hamid during a briefing of the recent 28th AU Summit attended by the president.

According to Mr Hamid, “the president assured the Ghanaian community [in Ethiopia] that he was going to work with Ghanaian talent everywhere in order to advance the Ghanaian agenda”.

In view of this, he revealed that Mr Akufo-Addo “announced to them that he had set up an office inside the presidency called the Diaspora Liaison Office whose duty basically, if you want, is to scout Ghanaian talents everywhere around the world to be able to compile their databases, what their skills and talents are in order for us to advance the Ghanaian project”.

He was quick to add that the president was not interested in the political leanings of such people with the focus on how they can use their knowledge and experiences for the benefit of the country.

“He said it did not matter whether you are NDC or NPP, once you are Ghanaian he is willing to work with you to advance Africa,” Mr Hamid reiterated.
