In early September 2016, the Ghana Embassy of France informed GhanaInFrance.com that prior to President Mahama’s visit to France  in September 2016, it has been agreed that the President will meet the GiF media one on one so we must all submit our questions. Below are  the questions GhanaInFrance.com team sent to the Embassy. Even though our team went to UNESCO on the 26th September 2016 to prepare the grounds for the event, it did not come on.  But as the saying goes ” We learn from everything we do”. Learn from what we learnt below.

Ghana In France TV Questions –  HE President Mahama

  1. Water: Understanding the problem of fresh water scarcity begins by considering the distribution of water on the planet. Approximately 98% of our water is salty and only 2% is fresh. Of that 2%, almost 70% is snow and ice, 30% is groundwater, less than 0.5% is surface water (lakes, rivers, etc) and less than 0.05% is in the atmosphere. Source: theguardian.com

We understand More than 80 percent of the people in Ghana have access to safe water > http://water.org/country/ghana. Climate change is also real(we hardly see snow in the Paris region today). Deforestation is also real in Ghana not forgetting the polluted rivers, lakes etc.. What is Ghana doing to make sure we have clean water in the next 100 years?

  1. Rural Development: International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) says while Ghana’s overall poverty rate has declined, the three regions in the north have seen only marginal decreases. Poverty rates in the north are two to three times the national average, and chronic food insecurity remains a critical challenge there.
These make me think of lack of factories for the youth, how farming is no more interesting to the youth and the streets of our major cities turned into bedrooms for families. What is Ghana doing about these?
  2. GMOs: GMOs in agricultural inputs pose risks to organic, non-GMO farms
    By Dale Monson. http://www.non-gmoreport.com/articles/may06/gmo_risks_for_organic_farms.php

I want to know where Ghana stands when we talking about Genetically Modified Food. a. Are we ready to surrender Ghana’s food sovereignty to a group of people?  b. Has Ghana got experts in dealing with the GMO?.

4.Ghana Diaspora: In 2004 according to the EU, there are an estimated 3million Ghanaians abroad.  This figure did not include those born here. So we can imagine the number. Today we have experts in all the fields we can think of, What is Ghana doing to gain from this brain gain?

  1. Roads: Kofiase Nkosuohemaa Nana Anokyewaa who is also a member of Ghana Traditional Council France says you are her best President ever in Ghana because they have finally seen “cotaali” in Kofiase. I want to know when the double road from Tema Poly Clinic to Community 4 and the Aggrey Road in Community 2, A.Lang will be renovated?

If  we have enough time

  1. I would also like to talk about Tourism in Ghana.. How the tourist industry is doing in Ghana.
  2. We have all started eating and drinking from Made in Ghana but getting the products is a problem.

What is Ghana doing to facilitate the export of  Made in Ghana Products first to the Diaspora and then to the other world. Like our children in the diaspora who played a major role in the promotion of Hiplife Music.
