Visit of the French Navy Ship Foudre at Tema Harbour from Dec.11th to 15th, 2006

Rawling's childrenThe purpose of the visit was to reinforce the existing ties between the French and the Ghanaian naval forces.

Under command of Commander Nicolas BEZOU since 2005 summer, LSD “FOUDRE” has increased her crew up to 275 sailors instead of the 230 last year.

The main role of “FOUDRE” is to plan forces by amphibious or aerial ways. Moreover “FOUDRE” gets facilities for the logistical support of frigates in the frame of overseas operations and for medical interventions. Finally she is able to welcome a higher command platform.

During her visit LSD “FOUDRE” realised a sea exercise with the Ghanaian naval forces and organised visit of the landing ship for the Ghanaian Military Academy. As last year, a French naval team carried out a civil-military action to the benefit of an orphanage .
